Deacons are ordained officers of the church who engage in the helping ministries. Grove’s deacons are especially active, carrying out Grove’s ministries to both congregation and community. Some of the ways or deacons work are:

Deacons’ Cupboard

Every Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 PM, the Deacons’ Cupboard provides groceries for low and no income persons.

You are eligible if you (one of these):

 ∙ Have an Independence Card

 ∙ Receive Medical Assistance

 ∙ Receive Energy Assistance

 ∙ Receive Universal Service Program

   (EUSP) Assistance

 ∙ Are unemployed

∙ Have a household income 150% of Federal poverty guidelines

You must bring a valid photo ID and proof of any income.

An individual or family can make use of the pantry services only once every 30 days.

Thrift Store

Open Monday & Wednesday, 10 AM to Noon, the Thrift store is below the church offices and offers adult and children’s clothing, shoes, and some household items. All proceeds benefit other mission programs.

Harford Family House

Deacons lead  our congregation in activities to aid the families of Harford Family House. It’s fun for families to fill  Christmas stockings for the kids at Harford Family House. And direct donations help fund the necessary expenses of the organization.

Prayer Squares

The Deacons are leading the ladies of the church to knit and crochet small squares that feature a raised cross. As the ladies knit and crochet, they’re also praying for the person who receives the square. Whether the square is kept close in a pocket or under a pillow, it’s a silent reminder of God’s love through their sisters at Grove.
