Grove's Presbyterian Mission

Grove Presbyterian Church is a Christian fellowship brought together by the Holy Spirit to worship and serve God, to share our belief in Jesus Christ, and to reach out with love and understanding to all people.

What We Believe

We believe that…

There is one God: revealed to us through Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

God created all that is, and continues to create, giving us the power to think, imagine and love. We are created in the image of God.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fully God and fully human, is Savior and Redeemer, sent by God the Father to take upon Himself the sins of the world, that we might become new people.

The Holy Spirit acts to transform the people of God into the image of Christ, as children and servants of God; to interpret God’s Word to us; to direct the people of God; and to encourage and console us in times of trouble.

The Holy Scriptures are God’s Word to all humanity, revealing who God is, what God desires, and who we were created to be. God continues to speak through the Holy Scriptures by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Grace: Through God’s grace and mercy we are saved from our sinfulness and forgiven. In gratitude to God for this grace, we are called to respond by living lives that reveal God’s mercy and proclaim God’s glorious grace to the world.

The Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ who instructed His disciples to “do this in remembrance of me.” Jesus Christ invites all who trust in Him to come to the Holy Table, no matter what branch of the Church they call home. By the power of the Holy Spirit we are nourished and nurtured in Holy Communion. The elements of bread and wine are the vehicles of this grace, though not physically transformed into Christ’s body and blood.

Baptism: In this other sacrament, the risen Christ commanded His disciples to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” In Baptism we celebrate God’s cleansing of our sins and are united with the Body of Christ, the Church. We accept both infant and adult baptism. We support the promises made in baptism by instructing the person in the faith, and encouraging them in their behavior, including participation in the life of the Body of Christ, the Church.

The Church is Christ’s body, of which there are many members. We celebrate the diversity within the community of the Body of Christ as it allows the Church to reach out to people with the Good News of Jesus Christ in a variety of ways.

Christ alone is head of the Church. Christ calls all those who bear His name to serve in ministry in the Church and to the world. All members receive callings to serve and to proclaim God’s grace using the many gifts and skills which God has given.
